Time & Attention

[00:00:00] All right. I need you to focus.
When I was in high school, my junior year, my track and field and football coach pulled me aside and he told me that, um, I wasn't going to play in the NFL. Now it was my dream to. So he, he crushed that dream and it ended up being the, the best thing that ever happened to me. You see, I wanted to be the next short running back.
There aren't many, but I knew just for sure if I could work hard and put all my time into it. I mean, just throw all my energy into it. That could be me and my coach knew better. He actually [00:01:00] played some college football. So he, uh, he was exposed to a few guys with some extraordinary talent and incredible genetics.
Um, and yeah, we, he, it was very straight with me. He gave me the straightforward, the low down, and he says, look, there is a. A very, very strong filter system for all the kids who are playing in high school, uh, who want to play in the NFL.
And they're not all going to make it. And there's another filter for the people who become drafted on these teams, not all of them are going to make it, not just onto the team, but long term. You know, as a career.
Brando, you live in Joshua Tree? No. Top. College football team is coming out here to scout and look for [00:02:00] you, hang it up. What you could do instead is put all that effort, time, and energy into books, to studying, because I mean, there's no limit to where that can take you.
And he made sense. It still makes sense. I am very, very happy, uh, doing what I do, you know, in physical therapy I. I, I love that. Anything that I put, you know, time and effort into now, whether it be learning the best technique, best exercises for rotator cuff, you know, I get a, I get a very, very high return on investment when I pour into that, [00:03:00] when I lean into that, and I can't help but think of the patients who are leaning into.
What is it? Entertainment the talking heads on, on the news channels. I understand you wanna keep up with the current events and all that's happening in the entertainment world,
but that time could also go towards. What? Make tomorrow a lot easier.
You know, every day we're working towards something and it's, it's very easy when there are scientists and researchers who are finding ways to keep you scrolling or [00:04:00] your eyes are glued to the screens.
But that's not gonna make tomorrow any easier.
