Move Your Body, Change Your Habits

Speaker: [00:00:00] If you want to feel different, you'll have to do something different. When I was working down at Union Square, I would take the eight train, about 45 minutes, sometimes an hour and a half, and I would be reading, um, the whole time, and I come home. And I tell my wife, you know, I'm having some pain in my neck.
And she say, well, when do you get it at work? And now like at home. So, okay, well that's the only time. Yeah. Maybe it's something you're doing on the train. She's very smart. So the very next time I get on the train I am, I'm trying to be more aware of what exactly am I doing. And I noticed. In the middle of my reading that my head was turned all the way over to the left, [00:01:00] it's rotated all the way over to the left, and then I, I, I was bringing my nose down toward my armpit.
Now this wasn't to like, avoid any pain. Um, this was just a position that I went into for like, no good reason at all. And. I, I make a notice of this and I immediately rotate my head all the way over to the right, right. Just to sort of balance things out. And from that day forward, I, I haven't had any pain in my neck and or shoulder.
So
to make change requires effort. It requires time and energy and we're, we tend to be lazy. We like the way things have been going. Even [00:02:00] sometimes when it causes us pain, we like the way things have been going. It takes time for us to build a new habit, and sometimes we just don't want to do that, and that's why it's so easy to just get a quick solution to, to whatever we're doing, whether it be.
You know, massage medication, injection, whatever. But if we're honest with what's holding us back, if we're honest with what is keeping us in pain and we stick by really changing our habits and behavior to get rid of it, I really don't think. That it's that much of a sacrifice
my rotating my head all the way over to the right when I'm very, very comfortable, at least in the [00:03:00] moment rotating my head over to the left. Is it really a big ask if the reward allows me to move my body freely?
I don't know about you, but I would say with most things, the sacrifice would be worth it if I can move my body however I want without any sort of restrictions, actions, without any sort of weakness, without any sort of pain.
