From Passive to Proactive Movement

Speaker 2: [00:00:00] What if there is no tomorrow? There wasn't one today. That line comes from the film Groundhog Day, where the protagonist lives the same day over and over. I sometimes feel like this in the clinic where I'm living the same treatment session. Where a patient comes in with a great amount of pain and they leave feeling much better, but they don't do anything between the sessions, so you guessed it.
They come back with a great amount of pain. It's like a revolving door. You see, when you come to me, I open a door for you to feel better. It's up to you. To keep the door open. In other [00:01:00] words
Speaker: it is my job to teach you how to fish, how to take care of yourself so that you can alleviate your own pain.
This all comes on well off the heels of a patient that I'm currently treating who does little to nothing between our sessions. In between our sessions, he is not doing the exercises that we do in the clinic or anything that I've prescribed for him to do. And because of this, that door that's opened when he is here. Closes or slams itself shut when he leaves.[00:02:00]
Unfortunately, he's coming for relief , not resolution from his pain. I believe he's relying too heavily on massages or injections.
This type of therapy isn't going to work.
The clients who get better, faster, and are never to be seen again are the ones who are fishing. They're the ones who are keeping that door open because they have been taught how to stretch and keep the body loose. Or strong, and they're applying that on their own [00:03:00] without needing to be babysat.
Change comes from within. That is something I cannot give you.
If you are having trouble making a change in your behavior, please book a consult with me at kinesmovement.com. And I can help you to have a resolution for your problem.
As per usual. Take ownership of your movement. Do more, wait less. I'll see you on the next one.
