Own Your Posture: Movement Ownership
===
Speaker: [00:00:00] Hello everyone. My name is Brando and I have a bad posture problem.
I felt like the first sign of recovery is just admitting that you have an issue. Now, it could be with not moving enough, maybe not stretching enough. But there's something that you're not doing and there's no ownership.
My job will be more easy if I could just swap bodies with you because I am aware of the postures and positions that I put myself into, and because I'm aware, then I know exactly what I could be doing to contribute to my discomfort.
There's a patient who I'm treating right now. [00:01:00] Who doesn't seem to understand how their posture is leading to worsening scoliosis. So each time I see her, I'm correcting her posture. Now, if I'm in their shoes and I'm not, but if I were, I would daily, almost every minute.
See and feel my body being contorted in such a way that felt unnatural. Now going into the stretch might feel also unnatural, but it will provide me with relief, long-term relief.
And to me, that's enough relief to say. This is what I should be doing, and this is what I will do going forward.[00:02:00]
For those with chronic pain, they can be in this contorted position forever and go seek out a chiropractor or acupuncturist or physical therapist to, uh, help them, uh, fix it for just a few minutes. Now it's their money. They can spend it however they want, but the most efficient way to address this is to look at how one may be contributing to their condition
and finding the most long term, the most cost efficient way of addressing it.
Now, unfortunately, I cannot swap bodies with anyone, and thus I am. I'm [00:03:00] on this podcast telling you, I'm telling you that you must have more awareness of your body and what you're putting yourself through. In order to have more awareness of how to get rid of your pain or condition.
Now, if you are having a tough time, if
trying to find the time to figure out exactly what it is that you're doing, book a consult with me. Head on over to kinesmovement.com and let's figure out what it is exactly that you're doing . As always, folks, take ownership of your movement.
Do more, wait [00:04:00] less. I'll see you on the next one. Okay.
