Building Habits for Independence and Functionality
===
Speaker: [00:00:00] You should be losing your mind about getting better. Let me explain. When we do the same thing over and over again, we say that that person is, a lunatic, right? The crazy. But doing the same thing over again, having that level of consistency actually helps build what brands, uh, trust, right? It helps build these habits.
And these habits can help us to, to really excel in life. So. When I want you to do the exercises two or three times a day or stretch daily, there's a reason for this. What we're doing is we're building reps. And the more reps that we can get at [00:01:00] something, then the better we will get at whatever it is that we want to do.
Now for you, all of my exercises, stretches these reps. They're helping you to become more functional, more independent. There's this patient that I have right now who, is bringing his phone into bed, uh, in, in the morning, and because he's doom scrolling in the bed.
His body is, is sort of creating a relationship with being up doom, scrolling and being in bed. So at night he's not sleeping. I simply say, don't bring your phone into bed, and that can change everything for you. And he hasn't done it. Now, the reason why I don't want him to doom scroll in bed is because when.
He's with lack of sleep. He claims to have more [00:02:00] trouble bringing up his foot when he is walking. Now when as his foot is dragging, he tends to lose his balance. So I. Um, this is sort of ripple effect, right? That, that comes from the use of this phone. And for him, this consistency, his, his reps, they're kind of leading him in the wrong direction, right?
And he is now coming off as, as a lunatic, uh, because he is coming to me seeking help, but he isn't doing the thing that that's really going to help him. So I'm, I'm mentioning this because doing something over and over and over again without questioning whether it's helping you with your independence, if it's helping you with your higher level of function, can significantly harm [00:03:00] you.
I want you to make note or consider all the things that you do throughout the day and wonder and ask yourself, is this helping me to become more functional, more independent, or is it taking away my, my livelihood?
So here's what I want you to do. go crazy about being independent.
