Commitment to Better Movement
===
Speaker: [00:00:00] What exactly are your intentions? With my exercises?
There's nothing worse than a non-committal client because they'll have one foot in and another foot out the door. And they'll ask me what I think they should do as if they haven't already told me that they want their independence and pain-free movement.
Why flirt with getting healthy? Once you have The tools, it is up to you to commit to, to using those [00:01:00] tools, to getting better.
I have a patient right now who says that they are feeling much better with playing tennis, much better now than they have in months. , But the shoulder and the elbow still hurts because they're,, they slack from time to time in doing the exercises. And once I, I asked this patient, well, why didn't you do the exercises?
And the response was, I didn't feel like it.
Folks
commit to getting better, this chronic [00:02:00] pain that we speak of. It, it's not an identity that one is to, uh, take on and say, I've had this pain for forever. I just have a bummed shoulder. That is not true. You are not committing to doing what you have to do to get to the next level, to get to where you want to be,
to get to being independent.
This commitment that I speak of will help to get rid of any codependent relationship that you have with me or any other physical therapist.
No matter how much I say, I need you to get better. You have to want and need that for yourself.[00:03:00]
