Maximize Your Body, Not a New One

Speaker: [00:00:00] What a waste.
Sometimes patients tell me that it will be great to just replace their whole body.
I, I think it's comical because, well, they, they don't know is even after you trade your body or new joint. You still are stuck with you in your habits, postures and behaviors.
There's this film being John Malkovich in which the protagonist takes over John Malkovich body. What's funny to me is that you were see that even though he is in a new body. He still carries himself the same way. He still looks the same. [00:01:00] It's just plastered his personality, habits and behaviors. On John Malkovich, I have patients who want to get back into playing tennis and on basketball, and I ask for fun.
What would you do with a professional athlete's body?
And oftentimes they'd say, well, man, I'd, I'd, I'd swing a lot better. I'd, I'd, I'd be winning more matches. I'd win more games. And what they don't know is they're just gonna run that new body into the ground. You see, it doesn't matter what body you have. It's what you do with it.[00:02:00]
Being resourceful in our body is taking care of our body and getting the most out of it.
So it is a waste to me if you are not. Optimizing this body and getting it to work at its full potential.
So why am I bringing this up? In my world as a physical therapist, I have patients who are. Delaying doing what they need to do to reach the next level of [00:03:00] fitness or performance.
We are all aging and in order to reach that peak tomorrow will require more effort.
