Surprises in Movement and Rehab
===
Speaker: [00:00:00] Surprise. Frankly, I love surprises. I like the idea that there's an expectation that you may have because you've done one thing a million times, or maybe you've never done it before, but this, this expectation of how things are going to go. And it just doesn't go that way. Now, sure there are some like terrible surprises, but I'm referring to the really nice ones, and that's what I want to talk about with you today because some surprises, if not most are planned.
You see, again, there's this expectation and in the clinic. I see patients with an expectation of getting better and dancing, and [00:01:00] they don't always, um, well, they don't always do what they need to do in order to be able to dance, and they're surprised by not being able to dance despite not doing any sort of exercise.
Or stretch to get to that position, and I have to let them know like, Hey you, you kind of have to work for it and plan for it.
You see? So we recently celebrated my son's third birthday and he walked through the front door. And he saw all of his cousins and his friends, so they all yelled, surprising. He had the biggest smile on their face. My wife and I planned this.
When you are going through [00:02:00] rehab, there's typically a sort of protocol, and when you don't do those things, you should not be surprised because you didn't go according to plan.
So here's what I want you to do. I want you to surprise your grandchildren with how well you move.
